Sandi L. Pellikaan
Any attorney can spout out the maximum jail sentence. But can they craft a sentence that's unique to you? Or share a judge's particular quirks? Every case is different – and that's the way Sandi Pellikaan treats it. It's also why she broke away from the traditional way of doing things and started a boutique firm with the goal of providing personalized legal representation at reasonable rates.
Since 1994, Ms. Pellikaan has practiced criminal defense law. Prior to opening her own practice in 2004, she worked at the Metropolitan Public Defenders for nine years, representing clients in all areas of criminal defense, including measure 11 crimes, property and drug felonies, and misdemeanors, including DUII and other traffic crimes. She assisted in the formation of the Multnomah County community court program for some misdemeanors and worked with the felony drug STOP court. As a senior felony attorney, she trained and mentored newer lawyers in the areas of drug and property crime law and trial skills.
A native Texan, Ms. Pellikaan earned her BA in English from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. She then worked as a legal assistant in Dallas, Texas for Baron & Budd, PC, a law firm representing people injured from asbestos exposure. Her work with victims of toxic exposures inspired Ms. Pellikaan to earn her law degree. In 1992 she moved to Portland, Oregon to attend law school at Lewis and Clark.
While in law school, Ms. Pellikaan published an article for the law review discussing the role of federal vs. state law in lawsuits by people harmed by pesticide exposure: FIFRA Preemption of Common Law Tort Claims After Cipollone, Environmental Law, Vol. 25 NBR>2, March 1995
1995, Ms. Pellikaan graduated from Lewis & Clark Law School where she was selected to the Cornelius Honor Society based on her strong academic performance and commitment to public service. A skilled trial attorney, she also competed on the mock trial team that won local competitions and advanced to regional competitions in Salt Lake City, Utah.
